Clinton County Speedway

On Sunday, my dad, Walt, and I took a ride out to Clinton County Speedway outside of Lock Haven PA for a day time winged sprint car show. Also on the agenda were street stocks (they called them pro stocks) and a 4 cyl enduro. This was my first trip to the 1/3 mile dirt track. We left Walt’s house about 7:20 and made great time as we pulled into the track just after 10:30. It is amazing the time you can make on the Interstates when you have no traffic. Winchester (IN) Speedway to re-open

I just heard that after a one year shutdown Winchester Speedway (IN) is going to reopen next season with new promoters. I never made it there yet but I hope to next season now that it is re-opening. Hopefully they’ll schedule the USAC border wars with Eldora Speedway (which is getting new management as well). That would make a fun weekend with back-to-back USAC sprint races at the two tracks.

LVS so far so good.

I’ve been working with my Linux Virtual Server from Redwood Virtual for a few days now. So far, so good. If you were going to do anything that involved a lot of processing, I think the smallest package might not be enough. The 64 MB of RAM can get eaten up real quick.

Earnhardt Jr. docked points

I’m happy to see that NASCAR docked points from Earnhardt Junior. If they never did it to someone else, it would be different. However, they have docked points from at least 2 drivers this year for langauge. If they are going to do it to some, the should do it to all. No matter if I’m for or against penalizing drivers for “foul language” in post-race interviews, I like to see the rules enforced the same no matter if you are Dale Jr. or someone else. By giving this fine and docking the points they are enforcing the rule across the board.

Mountain Speedway

Yesterday my friend Walter and I decided to go to Mountain Speedway – a 1/3 mile asphalt track in the Pocono Foothills of Pennsylvania. It turned out to be a bad choice. While the track, pit area, and grandstands are nice. The rest of everything wasn’t all that good (besides the show Eric Beers put on). This was a 3 division show (features only) that cost $20 to get in. Being it was a “big race” for them, the price didn’t bother me that much. The speaker system was horrible, the only working speaker was way in the pits and no one could here it, yet they insisted on doing driver introductions. Maybe if the track has closed caption we’d be OK. As it was I couldn’t here a thing the announcer said. The food wasn’t anything to brag about and a little over priced. However, it wasn’t “NASCAR-priced” so it wasn’t too bad. I wish I could say the same about the officiating. It had to be the worst officiated/ran race I’ve seen in a long time (if not ever). A trained monkey would have done a better job. Check that, an untrained cat would have done a better job. Read the rest of this entry »

New Site

I’m just started working on this new site. It is LVS hosted by Redwood Virtual. All the fun of a dedicated server without the cost (or the performance). But it should meet my needs and the price is great.
