The Bentley Snow Crystal Collection of the Buffalo Museum of Science 2004 December 6

The Bentley Snow Crystal Collection of the Buffalo Museum of Science is a small digital library created by a digital library class in the LIS program at the University of Buffalo. It is an interesting collection and course assignment. The photographs of the snowflakes are worth a look.

I am a little disappointed that they decided to use Microsoft Access for the database instead of using a more robust Open Source solution. The page did say that they investigated using OSS but it doesn’t say why they decided to not use OSS and go with a Microsoft solution, so I’m not sure why they made that decision.
