Ruling goes against Western Springs Speedway 2004 December 23
Phil, who lives in New Zealand, let me know on the AUTORACE e-mail list about a link to a TV news report informing me that a ruling goes against speedway.
I wish it were better news. I watched the news cast report and they said the World Series for the midgets in January is up in the air.
If I had paid thousands of dollars to go to the races from the USA, I’d be really upset. Earlier this year I was considering doing just that, but decided for a number of reasons, including economic ones, that I’d go to the Chili Bowl instead. One of these years I still want to get to New Zealand for these races. It is just about the top event on my list that I haven’t seen and now I might not get the chance if the track is forced to shutdown for good.
The racers are even paying more to transport cars. The newscast said it costs tens of thousands to get the cars from Australia, let alone the costs to get the cars from the United States.
