Ed C’s 2004 track attendence summary

I didn’t make it to as many new tracks and new states as I hoped this year, but I still made out OK and did get one (expensive to get to) state that I didn’t plan on getting. Overall stats for 2004 are (approximately) 57 events at 30 different tracks (13 new) in 12 states (2 new) and 1 (new) province, in 2 countries (1 new).

The new tracks in 2004:

Arizona (1): Canyon
Hawai’i (1): Hawai’i Motor Speedway
Illinois (1): Freeport
Indiana (3): Anderson, Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis Speeddrome
Michigan (2): Auto Valley Speedway 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile tracks
Ohio (1): Sharon
Pennsylvania (1): Clinton County
Virginia (2): Virgina Motor Speedway, Winchester
Ontario, CA (1): Delaware International

The new states were Michigan and Hawai’i, with the race in Ontario being the first race I have ever saw in Canada. While I don’t currently count drag strips I also saw the drag strip in Hawai’i Motor Speedway which was the 6′th drag strip I have been to to see the races.

According to the way I count, I have now seen races at 119 tracks. I have 2 that I don’t count that qualify under Track Chaser rules which means by that count I have 121. I’m on the fence about changing my counting methods to include drag strips, which would give me 125 tracks.

I have 29 current states (plus DC and Ontario, CA). My goals for 2005 include getting to 6 new states. That is a little more then I have done, but I figure if I make one trip to somewhere where I can get 3 states in a few days, and I pick up West Virgina, Rhode Island and Maine it shouldn’t be too hard. I’d really like to get to 140 tracks this year, but 21 is probably to much, so my goal is going to be 16 tracks which would get me to 135. I also have a goal is 150 by the end of 2006. Pretty modest compared to some track chasers, but averaging 15.5 new tracks in the next two seasons should be a little bit of a challenge, although it is more then do-able.
