Last night I went to my 5′th race of the year. It was the first day of a two day event. It consisted of time trials, a non-qualifiers race, and three 20 lap heat races (although they didn’t call it that) for the combined TQ midgets/00 cc micro division, as well as two heat races for the Slingshots.

The racing was OK, but not great. Whenever the races were about to get good, it would seem a yellow would come out. The winners of the three 20′s were: race 1: Billy Pauch (with Stewart Friesen second), Race 2: Liquid Lou Ciconni (with Doug Esh second), and race 3: Jimmy Spence (with Steve Buckwalter second). Out of the whole group, I think Stewart Friesen (from Canada) looked the fastest and if I was going to bet, I’d put my money on him. Of course I’d love to see Buckwalter or Pauch win. Stewart’s brother Curtis was the quickest qualifier.

The event cost me $17.00 to get in, $3 to park, and $1.70 in tolls. The event continues today, but with the snow already coming down hard and the weather people calling for 12 to 2 inches, I’m going to skip it.

The next race on my schedule probably won’t be until the end of February when the outdoor season opens in the north east at Hagerstown, Williams Grove, and Lincoln.

My 2005 racing stats are now:

Races: 5
Tracks: 2 (0 new)
States: 2 (0 new)
