I have an article in ISTL! 2005 May 20
I am pleased to say that my article The Importance of Open Access, Open Source, and Open Standards for Libraries has just been published in the Spring 2005 issue of Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship.
ISTL is a quarterly, open access, publication of the Science & Technology Section, Association of College and Research Libraries. While my article wasn’t peered reviewed, I am still extremely happy to have this article published in ISTL as it is one of the journals in the field I read most often. Also, it is a good start to my scholarly duties in my new tenure-track systems librarian position.
The abstract of my article reads “The open access, open source software, and open standards concepts have been garnering increased attention in the field of librarianship and elsewhere. These concepts and their benefits and importance to libraries are examined. Benefits include lower costs, greater accessibility, and better prospects for long-term preservation of scholarly works.”
Read and enjoy!
