New Egypt Speedway, June 11 2005 2005 June 12
I stayed close to home this weekend and went to New Egypt Speedway for the ARDC Midgets twin twenty show. During twin twenties, the ARDC midgets run one race wingless and the other one winged. Besides the midgets they ran the regular classes with the exception of the SS Sprints.
The midget races were great, and so were the other classes. The street stocks amazingly ran non-stop with Mick Search winning. Tom Carberry won the modifieds with Billy Pauch second, and Gary Butler the Sportsman.
Donnie Trent won the wingless ARDC feature followed by Ed Stimely Jr., Ray Bull, Billy Pauch, and Steve Buckwalter rounding out the top 5. On the first lap of the wingless feature Eric Heydenreich took a flip on the back streetch and his midget had to be at least 35 feet in the air. He appeared to be OK, but they did take him to a local hospital.
In the winged show Ray Bull started out 16′th and took the lead by lap 4! After that it was a run away but there was good racing in the rest of the field. Buckwalter finished second, followed by Frank Polimeda, Billy Pauch with another 4′th place finish and Ed Stimely Jr. in fifth.
My 2005 racing stats after the June 11′th race at New Egypt:
Races: 18
Tracks: 12 (5 new)
States: 8 (0 new)
