Accord Speedway, July 29, 2005
On Friday night, July 29 I drove up to the Catskills to see a night of regular racing at Accord Speedway with my dad. The worst part about Accord is getting there from my house. The traffic getting to this track on a Friday is horrible until you get off of the NY Thruway. Getting home late at night, however, is a breeze and I made it back to my dads in under 2.5 hours. The races were pretty good but you have to feel bad for Larry Hendershot who probably would have won the feature if a lapped car didn’t spin out in front of him allowing Rich Ricci, Jr. to take the lead and eventually the win.
I really like Accord speedway and they put on a good show. The track is by no means fancy but I have a good time whenever I go there and it is good to see Tommy Tomasko race up there. I’ve known Tommy for a while and even went out to Eldora once with him once. Tommy runs in the sportsman division and come home sixth. While not a win, it was a good result for him because it should have good enough for him to take the point lead as he was only 2 points out of first and he finished ahead of the two guys in front of him.
My 2005 racing stats after the July 29′th race at Accord Speedway:
Races: 29
Tracks: 19 (9 new)
States: 13 (3 new)
