New Egypt Speedway – September 3, 2005 2005 September 4
Last night I once again decided to stay close to home and just go to New Egypt. They had the URC sprints plus a regular show for $20.00 admission. They had a rather big crowd. I was considering going to see the ARDC midgets out in the middle of Pennsylvania at Central PA Speedway but I didn’t feel like driving that far, Billy Pauch Jr. wasn’t running with them in this race (he raced a sportsman at New Egypt finishing last), and gas prices didn’t make it sound any more attractive.
The races were OK but not great. Sadly, Rich Rutski got caught up in someone else’s mess for the second week in a row so he lost some more points after a 23′rd place finish. The driver second in points, Gary Butler, also had some problems getting a flat tire while running third or fourth. While Butler still finished 15′th and gained a few points (maybe 8 or so) it could have been much worse. Jack Swain won the race.
In the modifieds, Bill Pauch Sr. couldn’t take advantage of a top 10 starting spot as he jumped the cushion while moving through the field and spun out. He did stay on the track and finished 11′th. Keith Hoffman ran a good race and took the victory.
In the URC feature Kevin Welsh took the win, but Ed Aikin put on the best show coming from 11′th starting spot to finish second.
The Super Stock race was won by Rob Ormsbee.
My 2005 racing stats after the September 3′rd race at New Egypt:
