National Sprintcar League moving forward 2005 November 28

Despite some rumor-mongering on racing message boards on the Internet, including at least one by a so-called respected racing journalist who made a post that he titled “ NATIONAL SPRINTCAR LEAGUE FOLDS…” the National Sprintcar League is not folding. It is a shame that someone who claims to be a respected journalist (but in reality is just a PR person who releases submarine articles would post a message with such a title even if it was to “get attention to the item.” Anyway, here is the press release from the National Sprintcar League:

National Sprintcar League moving forward despite loss of Petty involvement – By Bobby Gerould – Rocklin, CA. 11/27/05 …National Sprintcar League officials learned Tuesday (November 22nd) that the Richard Petty Driving Experience, and Richard and Kyle Petty would no longer be a part of the NSL. Citing overwhelming demands in getting a start-up series off the ground, the Petty’s informed the NSL of their decision. Despite the loss, the National Sprintcar League is moving forward with plans to race 410 winged sprintcars in 2006. “Sure, we regret that the Richard Petty Driving Experience has decided to withdraw from the new series. They’re good race people and we’ll miss them, but that is the only thing that has changed”, said Steve Kinser. The 20-time World Champion driver continued, “We look forward to forming the kind of relationships between tracks, race teams, drivers, sponsors, and most importantly the fans to carry 410 winged sprint car racing into the next decade.” The National Sprintcar League is in constant communication with major track promoters in a continued effort to finalize a 2006 racing schedule. “We are acutely aware that the fans want answers now”, said Brian Healey, NSL official. “The reality is that starting a major touring series takes a cooperative effort of many sprintcar racing’s major players, and sometimes that takes longer than we all want it to take.” The National Sprintcar League is working on not only the 2006 racing schedule but also the details of a new website, and naming of a series sponsor. A television package is also part of the NSL master plan. Said Healey, “Many pieces are in place to succeed. We just need the full support of a few key race promoters to take our next step.” The National Sprintcar League will participate in the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show in Orlando, Florida this week. Teams and drivers committed to the NSL in 2006 include Steve Kinser Racing (Steve Kinser), Tony Stewart Racing (Paul McMahan), Kasey Kahne Racing (Joey Saldana), Elite Racing Team (Jason Meyers), Roth MotorSports (Danny Lasoski), TW Racing (Brandon Wimmer), Rudeen Racing (Shane Stewart), Selma Shell Racing (Lucas Wolfe), P&P MotorSports (Brian Paulus), Sides MotorSports (Jason Sides), Parsons MotorSports (Tim Shaffer), and Carnahan MotorSports (Jason Solwold).

SPLITTING UP LIKE THIS IS GOING TO RUIN THE SPORT. EGO’S AND GRUDGES NEED TO BE SET ASIDE AND A UNION MADE BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES BEFOR IT GETS OUT OF CONTROLL. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH CARS TO FEILD A REGULAR SHOW FOR EITHER SERIES. LOTS OF FANS ARE GOING TO BLOW THESE REGULAR SHOWS OFF IF THERE ARE ONLY 10 OR 12 AT A SHOW. BETTER HOPE SOMEONE COMES UP WITH A PLAN. AS OF RIGHT KNOW I WOULD SAY NSL HAS MOST OF THE TOP NAMES BUT NO TRACKS TO RACE AT. WOO AT LEAST HAVE A SCHEDULE AND STILL HAVE A FEW TOP NAMES THAT WILL BRING A CROWD AT BIG MONEY SHOWS. GET TOGETHER ,DON’T RUIN SPRINTCAR RACING FOR MY SON AND THE FUTURE.

I’m taking a wait and see attitude. I think some people who think (or thought before the Pettys backed up) that the WoO would fold easily weren’t really looking at the WoO as a hold. With the late model sanctions, the tracks owned, and the DIRT modifieds they have a lot of clout with the tracks. Of course, it looks like the one of the two most important tracks will go with NSL (Eldora) and the other is playing it neutral (Knoxville). I think which direction Williams Grove and a few other key tracks go could make a big difference.

Personally, I think it is too early to make predections on what will happen, but I doubt we will see them kiss and make up this year.

this is a big mistake what is going to happen to the knoxville nationals and the kings royal? You think that the points chasers in the NationalSprint League are going to give up points to race in the rival series i think not this is just BAD for everyone concerned

Edward Corrado Says:

Rumor has it that the Knoxville Nationals will be unsanctioned. The people at Knoxville have been saying that if it is unsanctioned they will put the $80,000 sanction fee into the purse instead of paying it to WoO or the NSL.

As far as the Kings Royal, with Tony Stewart owning Eldora and owning a sprintcar team in the NSL, do you really think he will keep the WoO sanction on the race? I doubt it. I think it will either be sanctioned by the NSL or be unsanctioned. If it is NSL sanctioned, it will be the WoO racers that will be the ones that need to give up point races (assuming the WoO sanction series schedules a race against the Kings Royal).

THE “U S A” LASTED LONGER……
I LIKE MOST WoO HATERS, WERE HIGHLY LOOKING FOR
AN ALTERNATIVE AND THE COMPETITION.
THAT’S $$$$ and RACING.

THEY WERE GOING TO RUN WITH “AIRPLANE PARTS”
