I am going off to the code4lib conference today. I’m really looking forward to this unique conference and meeting some of the “big names” in the library coding world. With any luck this conference will be even 1/2 as good as I hope (and belive) it will be. I planning on posting my notes to this blog, so look here for updates over the next few days.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, I went with a couple of other LUG/IP members to go see a screening of portions of BBS: The Documentary at the Princeton Public Library. Besides seeing some footage, we also got to hear from the director/filmer/editor/interviewer/etc. Basically he did it all himself. He said it took him about 4 years. The end result seemed very interesting and if you were ever involved in running a BBS, or even used one, I’d recommend you see it.

A few days ago USAC released their 2006 National Sprint Car and Midget Schedules. While many of the dates are typical, a few new (and interesting) venues are in the mix. The first interesting one is the Sprint cars racing at Scenic Raceway in Oneida, Tenn. on April 15. That is a little bit out of their traditional area. The USAC Sprints will also be going to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. and Canandaigua (N.Y.) Speedway in early May. I’ve been wanting to make Lernerville for years, and now I have an excelent excuse. Although I’ve been to Canandaiguia, before seeing this short two day Eastern swing for the USAC sprint series seems like a strong possibility. The USAC Midgets and Sprints are scheduled to race at North Wilkesboro, N.C. on June 21. I’m not sure what the odds of that happening are since the people that want to promote North Wilkesboro still need to purchase the track (pdf) , but it is nice to see that USAC is optimistic enough to put it on their schedule. There are other new venues, so check out the National Midget and Sprint schedules for yourself.
