Roy Tennant’s Top Ten Techie Traits 2008 September 1

Roy Tennant posted his “Top Ten Techie Traits” on his Library Journal Digital Library blog. For the most part they are pretty good, but one he didn’t put on the list that I think should be the willingness to fail. Well, not actually just the willingness to fail, but the willingness to try things that might not work out and when they don’t, the ability to learn from the resulting failure. Related to this, another possible item to include is not only the ability to learn from mistakes, but the desire to learn period. The top techies I know are constantly reading about and./or trying new “techie” things. They are always trying to learn something new.
